01-9-2005 Elena Bridges was walking to work on Capital Hill when
she saw a yellow cat dragging its' legs behind him across a busy street. She
followed it and found it cornered in the thorns of untended rose bushes. The
cat hissed and spit as she tried in vain to reach for its‚ matted fur. She knew
she was no match for this cat. As soon as she reached her office she began
calling shelters. Each shelter was crowded and unable to assist the maimed and
dying cat. Elena lay in bed that night hoping the cat had been saved by
someone, but the next morning she returned and found it lying against the house
fighting for life. How many days had the poor thing been in pain? Again she
reached toward the cat. It jerked and twisted it's body to escape. She needed
professional help and she would not give up. She hurried to work and began
searching the internet and found Whisker City. Within the hour April Brown and
Brenda Anderson had captured "Thor" now named for the thorns that
pierced his body. The rescuers rushed Thor to Northgate Veterinary Clinic and
placed him in the expert care of Dr. Baxter.
Thor has a broken pelvis and serious puncture wounds to
his legs and back; probably as a result of a dog attack. With comfort and long
term care he is expected to recover fully. "He is amazing. From the neck
up he is full of life and has the biggest eyes. He is a fighter and is
responding to the love and care we are giving him", says April Brown,
Director of Whisker City.
Thor will be available for adoption in approximately 8
weeks. If you would like to help with his expenses please call 206-542-9617 or
email us.
